Super sunny Grenada!

Above is the view from my balcony today. Downtown St George's was just outside the port. We were the only ship in town today, so we had an easy walk from the ship to the terminal to the the downtown. The sun was scorching so I waited till after lunch, to go for a stroll around the downtown. Grenada is a volcanic island and you are greeted by the rising hills as soon as you step out of the port.

As soon as I walked into the terminal building I saw the Christmas decorations and heard the carols playing. It is so odd, when it is so warm here! I also have no perspective on month and season. Just feels like a really long summer vacation has been going on! I walked up some of the hills of St George's to get the view from the top. Schools were letting out, so the streets were busy with everyone walking home. I love the motto " No Success without Effort" ! Oh so true! I wandered into a few shops had some conversations with locals, bought a pool noodle to use on the ship and tried Soursop fruit for first time - was good - tasted like watermelon even though it is small and white flesh, with a pit inside each section, inside green spiny exterior.

Another great day exploring the South Pacific ! Today as soon as our ship docked in Honiara , and we were cleared by customs, I was off with 9 other residents, to get in 2 small speed boats and head out to Simon's Nature Reserve in the Solomon Islands . It was about an hour long ride across the Iron Bottom Sound but so worth it to experience this special place!

Fun fact - Papua New Guinea is the most linguistically diverse country in the World! It is estimated that there are at least 826 Papuan languages. Some are spoken by just a handful of people, while others by 100,000. (Thanks - Basia & Wikipedia for sharing this information).

Tully is a small sugar mill town about 2 hours south of Cairns and we traveled here with a group of about 20 other residents to go white water rafting in the Tully River at the Gorge in the National Park. It is the beginning of the wet season and the river was running at a high level, so the rapids were class 4 out of 5. We had some trepidation, but were excited for the adventure! OMG so much FUN!!
